Stop charging and unplug

The short version

Unplug the cable and the session ends. Take it out of the car first, then out of the charger. Once the cable is out there is no further consumption and nothing more to pay, and the app refreshes to show the session finished.

Why the car comes first

The car locks the cable in place while it is charging. Releasing it at the car end first is what unlocks the plug, and it is why the reverse order can leave the cable feeling stuck. Some cars release the cable when you unlock the car with the key.

Stopping from the app

You can also press Stop in the app before you get back to the car. Either way works, and either way you still need to unplug.

If the Stop button does not respond, do not keep pressing it. Go and unplug the cable instead, which is the reliable way to end a session. The charger occasionally refuses a remote stop command while continuing to charge quite normally, and unplugging always works.

What happens to the money

The final amount is worked out when the cable comes out. The temporary hold placed at the start is adjusted to what you actually used, and the difference goes back to your card. See The €35 temporary hold and Refunds and how long they take.

If the cable will not come out

Never force it. If it still will not release, try locking and unlocking the car quickly three or four times from your key fob, then try the cable straight after the last unlock. See The cable will not come out.
